Set of terminals to suit,

Laminated pinout in English

Enclosure
The EMU BLACK’s bespoke CNC machined aluminium enclosure guarantees immunity to mechanical damage, provides water resistance (IP65) and has very good heat conduction.
An additional hole through the enclosure provides a mounting point.
At the front of there is a sealed micro USB connector for PC communication and a MAP sensor connection tube for the integral MAP sensor.

PCB
The EMU BLACK utilizes 4 layer PCB boards and most of components are SMD type (except connectors) and coated with special surface treatments protecting the board and components from moisture. Due to design, the device is extremely immune to the vibration.
The device is assembled according to IPC-S-815A standards on a fully automated assembly line with optical inspection to ensure the highest possible quality.
Careful selection of electronic components allows proper device operation in a very wide temperature range (-40C to 105C) to AECQ-100 GRADE2 standards.

Analogue Inputs
The EMU BLACK has two additional analogue inputs in comparison to the EMU CLASSIC. Each analogue input has software selectable pullup / pulldown (4700Ohm). For CLT and IAT inputs, the pullup resistor is 2200Ohm and can be disabled via software when an application requires it.

Switch Inputs
The EMU BLACK introduces 3 digital switch inputs that can be used to activate many different strategies, such as switching maps / tables or enabling launch control or similar.

Trigger Inputs
The input circuit for trigger inputs was redesigned for the EMU BLACK. For each trigger input (Primary trigger, CAM#1, CAM#2 and VSS) a pullup / pulldown can be selected (4700Ohm, 1000Ohm, 820Ohm) as well as an analogue filter level (none, low, medium hall).
The primary trigger input supports HALL or VR type (software selectable) and for VR sensors the adaptive level can be changed (low, high).
For CAM#1 and CAM#2 inputs the reference voltage can be defined in separate 2D tables in function of RPM which greatly improves noise immunity for VR sensors (the higher the RPM the higher the trigger voltage threshold)
The VSS sensor input also supports VR or HALL sensor types.

Flex Fuel Input
The EMU BLACK introduces a separate input for Flex Fuel sensor ( regular EMU uses CAM#2 or VSS input for this purpose).

Ignition Outputs
The Ignition Output circuit was redesigned, including the driver for active coils. EMU BLACK supports active and passive coils with are software selectable. In comparison to regular EMU, it is possible to drive 2 active coils from one ignition output. For additional safety, if active coils are incorrectly selected when passive coils are connected - no damage will occur.

H-Bridges
The stepper outputs of the regular EMU CLASSIC have been replaced by two state-of-the-art H-BRIDGEs with over 6A continuous current capability (1A for EMU CLASSIC). It allows control of stepper motors, electronic throttles, VANOS and any solenoid with a current draw lower than 6A (low and high side drive possible).

DBW / E-Throttle
Due to the high current capability of the integral H-BRIDGEs, the EMU BLACK is able to directly control an electronic throttle with no external module required. The control strategy was also improved (2x faster update rate, defined PWM frequency from 1000Hz to 8000Hz) to allow higher precision throttle control. For safety reasons, the DBW strategy works on 2 separate processors and any malfunctioning in one of them causes throttle limp mode giving total peace of mind.

Aux Outputs
All Aux outputs of the EMU BLACK have built in fly-back circuits for precise control of solenoids without adding external diodes (with the EMU CLASSIC, external diodes are required for PWM controlled solenoids).

WBO / Lambda
An integral wideband controller circuit, built into the ECU, supports true Wideband oxygen sensors such as the Bosch LSU 4.2 or Bosch LSU 4.9.

CANBUS
The EMU BLACK has built in CAN bus support (as well as separate serial communication) with an integral, software selectable, 120Ohm terminating resistor.

5v Outputs
The EMU BLACK introduces an additional +5V regulator for 5V output. In addition to this there are two +5V output terminals for neater harness design.

Sensor Grounds
The EMU BLACK introduces 3 separate sensor ground terminals to allow neater harness design.

Fixed 12v
The EMU BLACK has a new power scheme. The +12V is provided by a fixed 12V input (used for powering the device and the flyback circuit). The switched +12V is simply used to turn the device on and off.

Software
The EMU BLACK’s software is improved over the EMU CLASSIC’s software. The configuration tree has additional hierarchy levels which make navigation easier.
